BYU Fans Are LOVING This Texan’s Comments (Provo, UT)

I recently did an exercise with a few other (helicopter) parents.

The idea was to rank what were the most important attributes you'd like for your child's eventual spouse.

So it was like: good person, income, good looking, religious, good family, etc...

It was all on a grid and everybody ranked what was most important. Some people who had daughters said, I want a guy who makes a bunch of money, others said religion was important, others copped out and said they just wanted an overall quality person.

But the most important thing regardless of all of these other factors is how much they honor and respect your kid. That's what parents want to see. Respect!

This is why I love the BIG 12 as the new spouse for BYU.

I was listening to a Baylor Bears podcast and these guys LOVE BYU. (Link to Podcast Episode)

They love their fans, they love their stadium, they love their Heisman trophy and national championship, they love their coach, they love their tradition.

So if I'm a BYU fan I don't care that Baylor is just dinky little Baylor or that the BIG 12 hasn't won a national championship in 20 years, or that they're losing Texas and Oklahoma next year. No. If I'm a BYU fan all I care about is that my program, which has been maligned for a long time wandering the lonely desert of independence, is being married to a conference that honors and respects it.
