Can Desert Hills Brawl with Brighton?
Desert Hills is hours away from kicking off the 2022 season at Brighton at 7PM.
My Uncle Hank thinks the Thunder are going to represent Region 10 well tonight.
Here are some thoughts about the matchup:
Brighton is Very Good
Casey Sutera is the Bengals’ new head coach by way of Corner Canyon. He was an assistant under Eric Kjar who has probably been the most accoladed coach in the state over the past five years. Sutera was his defensive coordinator.
Sutera inherits a team in Brighton that is already a winner. They’ve won their region two years in a row and they have plenty of beef back this year. Desert Hills will need to show they can hold their own at the point-of-attack tonight.
Noah’s Ready For the Spotlight
Noah Fuailetolo is a gamer. He can run out of the pocket and make a play on third down if he’s being chased. He’s whip smart on his reads and he executed a new offense last year to perfection. Offensive coordinator Jim Eggleston gave him plenty of opportunities to go vertical as well as make easy pitch and catch completions to tight ends and backs.
Morris vs Manu
Tyden Morris might be the baddest man on the field tonight. We’ll see. Brighton’s Manu Nonu has been awesome for the Bengal’s on the defensive line. He had eight tackles behind the line of scrimmage last year and four sacks.
Morris rushed for 103 yards per game last year, including a 319 yard performance against Pine View. He looks even stronger this year. It will be interesting to see how many carries he gets tonight. If Stewart Taufa and the offensive line can get some push Morris might have a chance to show himself as a premier back in the state this year in this spotlight game.
Can't wait for kickoff...
