The Only Place in St. George You Don’t Need Your Phone
I had a discovery last night.
In our dopamine rich society there's only one place you can go and the whole time you're there you won't need to take a hit off of your phone.
It's not the movie theater. Movies are two hours and bad, and I need to take a hit off my phone, Twitter or whatever else at least twice.
Football games are long, and there's 30 seconds between each play. Your brain needs to hit Instagram.
Baseball we know...baseball takes forever.
NBA games, corporate crowds, long replay reviews, wake me up in the fourth quarter. There are 82 games that mean nothing. Playoffs are even too long. I can't imagine watching a regular season NBA game without a phone.
Hockey has 20 minute breaks in between periods. That's ridiculous. Okay so they have to zamboni the ice..put some more horsepower in those things and get it done a little quicker. That's a monster break.
Concerts, you're phones out the whole time, filming the stage especially if you're a teenager.
There's only one place anymore where you'll go and for 90 minutes your teenager won't need any dopamine from their phone. It's not Disneyland, it's not the Grand Ole Opry. It's High school basketball. 32 minute games, shot clock, the noise, the drama. I was at The Thunderdome last night at Desert Hills, there were hundreds of teenagers who were on their feet locked in the whole game cheering for the Thunder and the Warriors. That gym was bursting with entertainment non-stop. God bless high school basketball. There's nothing else is like it.
