Same could be said for Terry Bradshaw and the Steel curtain. Dan Marino was the best passer in the NFL for over a decade but never won a championship. In 1989 when Joe Montana was winning his fourth superbowl with the third best defense in the league, Marino went 8-8 with the 22nd best defense in the league. Star quarterbacks are reliant on 52 other good players on their team.

Patrick Mahomes transcends that in the NFL Brady never had receivers except for a year or two, but he always had Belichick's defenses. Manning had Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark. Montana had Rice and Dwight Clark and John Taylor. Elway had Terrell Davis as a workhorse in his super bowl wins. I can't name a Chiefs wide receiver this year. Last year they were terrible. And you never hear anything about the Chiefs defense being any good. He has Kelce. And a bunch of it doesn't matter players because once again he's the betting favorite in Vegas to do something nobody has done since Bart Starr in the late 60's, win three super bowls in a row.
